Meet Our Team: Nathan Davis-Floyd

He is Mr. Humboldt, is full of jokes, and can’t choose just one beer that he enjoys sipping on at Redwood Curtain Brewing Co… It’s Nathan Davis-Floyd here to share with you a little about him and his journey at RCBC!

What is your job title at RCBC?  How long have you been working for the company?

Beertender, and I have been working here for almost four years.

How much has the brewery changed since you began your journey with RCBC?

Different staff, a crowler machine, and the new Myrtletown location.

What were you doing before you started working at RCBC?

I bartended at a beer bar locally, was a facilitator at an after school program, and was and still am going to school at Humboldt State University for philosophy.

What interested you in working at RCBC?

Beer.  Brewing it, drinking it,... BEER.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in San Leandro, CA.

What originally brought you to Humboldt County?

School is what mainly brought me to the area.

What is your favorite RCBC beer?

I have three, is that fair?  I like the Madame Sournoise, the Black Forest Imperial Stout, and the Gone to Plaid Triple IPA.

If you were an RCBC beer, which one would you be and why?

The Sticky Fingers IPA, it’s approachable, but it can take you by surprise.

What is your favorite beer that is not RCBC?

L’abbaye de St. Bon-Chien from BFM.  It is from Switzerland, but you can get here locally sometimes.

What RCBC apparel do you wear the most?

My trucker hat probably.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not slinging beers RCBC?

With school still going on it can be hard to find time to do things besides work and school.  BUT when I do have free time I like to ride my bike (when it’s not raining), go to the river (thank goodness summer is near), do stand up comedy, and I am also Mr. Humboldt which requires me to represent the area at certain events.

What is the most memorable place that you have visited?

Oakland; I just spent so much time there and have created a lot of great memories that have stuck with me.

What is something that most people do not know about you?

Where to start?  I can say the alphabet backwards, I can juggle and spin fire, I have done archery for ten years, I want to build/participate in the Kinetic Race, I can shake my eyeballs, and I have broken thirteen bones.

What do you enjoy most about working at RCBC?

Coworkers and customers, and telling jokes to both coworkers and customers.
