Meet Logan Caswell! She does it all here at Redwood Curtain Brewing Company; from pouring you beer and getting you excited about BINGO, to maintaining relationships and making new ones while on the road doing sales! Read her interview to find out more about Logan!
What is your job/position at RCBC? What does it entail?I am a Lead Bartender which involves me communicating information from the manager to the staff and vice-versa. I'm the Game Night Host for our Merriment Mondays where I inspire fun and convince people to play games. And I have just started my new position as a Sales Representative where I travel to the East and North Bay to sell beer, and establish and maintain relationships with our clients.
What are some challenges you face in your many positions? With being a Lead Bartender, it can be difficult to make sure everyone's needs are being resolved and that they are being heard; but we have a pretty happy, easy, and self-sufficient staff here which makes my job pretty easy. challenges I face as a game host... some people just don't want to play games. And I have just started sales, so no difficulties yet.
How long have you been with the company?
Four years total. I have been a game host for four years, and a bartender for two years. And now I will be starting sales on top of my other positions!
What were you doing before you started working at RCBC?I was working at a local coffee shop for awhile, and then a local restaurant, and was going to College of the Redwoods.
What interested you in working for the company?Well, I was asked if I wanted to be the game host by some friends who worked here, and I was like "Heck yeah". And I came to realize while doing this that I love the beer community. As soon as a shift for bartending opened, I jumped on it!
Where did you grow up?Santa Rosa, California.
If you were an RCBC beer, which one would you be and why?I would be the Dusseldorf Altbier because I am sweet (caramel notes) and a little nutty! But I am friendly and approachable and easy to drink (talk to; hee hee).
What is your favorite beer that is NOT RCBC?Caldera's Toasted Coconut Porter is my guilty pleasure, and Pacifico for nostalgic reasons; it reminds me of summer and the river.
What RCBC apparel do you find yourself wearing the most?My blue crewneck sweatshirt; definitely one of my favorite pieces of clothing I own.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not at work?I ride my bike on local trails, especially in the marsh and on the Hammond Trail. I enjoy readying science fiction novels, and I like cleaning (really relaxes me). I also partake in the Kinetic Sculpture Race!
What is the most memorable place you have visited?I I would have to say India; I was studying abroad there for six months and stayed with a host family.
If you could eat one food for life, what would that be?Pizza or french fries. For my birthday I have fries for every meal; breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert.
What is something that most people do not know about you?
I used to perform in a circus when I was a kid. I did the trapeze, rode the unicycle, walked the tight rope, and juggled! I stopped when I started high school; I all of the sudden became to cool for it. Ha ha!
What isn’t real, but you desperately wish it was?
Harry Potter's Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I have been waiting for my invitation.
With the recent power outages, what have you been doing to entertain yourself without electricity?
During the first power outage, I made a fire and played Yahtzee with my boyfriend. And during the most recent one I figured I wouldn't have power anyway, so I went camping with some friends just east of Burnt Ranch. It was a bit cold, but really fun!
What are you dressing up as for Halloween?
My favorite costume ever was when I dressed as the bearded lady.
What do you enjoy most about working for RCBC?
Working with responsive people who are able to stay on the same page. And the customer base; people love the product and are happy people.
